Νew smart city projects are currently being implemented by AMCO at the Municipality of Rhodes and Syros-Ermoupolis (as well as Kos and Rethimno in cooperation with Dotsoft).

Each project encompasses the procurement, installation, customization and commissioning of an integrated multi-channel information system for passenger transport. This system includes computer screens with built-in ticket printer and passenger information screens within the city buses, electronic LED signs as well as electronic LCD panels – powered by photovoltaic panels – that will be presenting itineraries.

All people will be able to gain information on public transport routes and the estimated time of arrival at bus stops in real time via a smartphone mobile application, via SMS and a customized web application. In addition, mobile and web applications will include the City Guide with Points of Interest and Trip Planner. Particularly in Rhodes, additional information will be offered regarding bike rental availability, Near-Me feature for finding POIs close-by, latest news, useful facts and the ability to report problems related to the Municipality. All data will be gathered in the central management platform, featuring state-of-the-art technologies and allowing for remote monitoring and management of the system, while providing continuous and up-to-date information to the corresponding authorities of the Municipality.

These projects are expected to make a significant contribution towards improving the quality of life for residents and visitors, increasing tourist interest, enhancing municipal transport and protecting the environment.
