The project for the digital transformation of Thessaloniki city buses has been successfully deliver by the consortium “TERNA-INDIGITAL-AMCO.

In this project AMCO delivered the following:

• Account-based AFCS backend platform 
• Mobile ticketing and passenger information application for iOS and Android
• Driver consoles, ticket validators, TFT displays and on-board ticket vending machines for 620 buses
• Stationary ticket vending machines and bus stop displays
• Ticket office hardware and software 
• Ticket inspection software 
• AVL//PIS backend software 
• Scheduling, rostering and route optimization backend software

With the utilization of the project, the City expands its cooperation with the Company and joins the network of over 100 municipalities nationwide, which have trusted AMCO SA for the development of their Smart City infrastractures.

More specifically, the project includes:

• 38 specially built electric bicycles for shared use within the urban fabric

• 38 bike docks

• 2 Infokiosks

• Mobile Application for iOS and Android mobile phones

In addition to the equipment, AMCO will supply the Bike Rental Software.

The commuters will be able to rent a bicycle through the infokiosks that will be installed at each station, or with the use of the mobile application.

With the installation of AMCO’s equipment in the Open Mall of the Municipality of Orestiada, the “smart” infrastructure of the Municipality will be strengthened, upgrading the shopping center of the city, making citizens’ access to it easier, faster and safer.

The project concerns the installation of 4,450 new smart bus stops and bus stops and the upgrading of more than 1,000 existing stops throughout Cyprus.

More specifically, the contract provides for the construction and installation of 2,350 pylons throughout Cyprus, of which 350 will be with integrated technology, while the remaining 2,000 will be with lighting and information in printed form. In addition, 1,350 small and 650 large sheltered stops are planned in urban areas, as well as 100 large sheltered and weather-protected shelters in mountainous areas.

In addition, existing bus stops will be upgraded and placed on minor axes. Furthermore, the placement of 200 bicycle racks and 20 bicycle stations at central stops is planned, to encourage the use of bicycles and combined traffic.

The scope of the project is the continuous upgrading of the passenger experience for all citizens, encouraging them to use alternative mobility in order to reduce traffic and environmental problems, thus ensuring a more “green” and “intelligent” sustainability of the cities of Cyprus.

The project, with a total value of €61,658,761.88 plus VAT and a duration of 15 years, is co-financed by the European Union.

The contract between the two individuals was signed in June 2023 and is already underway, with delivery within the next few months.

More specifically, the project includes three (3) Interactive and Visual Display Screens (Infokiosk), as well as the corresponding Infokiosk content management software.

The scope of the project is seamless interaction and information of citizens, serving them with high developed technologically methods, giving useful information in the most interactive way.

Citizens will be able to quickly and easily have access to information, promotional material and updates regarding the city of Korinthos.

The new Interactive & Visual Display Screens (Infokiosk) that will be supplied by AMCO, will further develop the smart infrastructures of the Municipality of Korinthos, upgrading the functionality of the urban environment through new technological methods, as well as the everyday life of the citizens.

AMCO will manufacture and deliver the equipment, as well as the implementation of the software, which will ensure the integration of the new Automatic Machines into the Unified Automatic Toll Collection System of Athens Public Transport Operator.

The Ticket Vending Machines will support the issuance and recharging of the “Multiple usage” ticket (ATH.ENA Ticket), in addition to the recharging of the ATH.ENA Card.

The new Machines will be placed at the stations of Agia Varvara, Korydallos, Nikaia, Tambouria-Maniatika, Piraeus and Municipal Theater, of Metro Line 3, as well as at the TRAM stops on the Piraeus line.

Furthermore, apart from the supply and installation of the Ticket Vending Machines equipment and software, the project also includes maintenance and support services during their operational phase.

This project, is a result of AMCO’s continuous investment in the field of intelligent transport and is a continuation of similar Ticket Machines supply projects both domestically (Urban and Interurban Panhellenic Federation of Urban Transport) and to foreign customers (MBC Mecca, Saudi Arabia).

The aim of the project is to strengthen and improve the micro-mobility of the Municipality, reducing the use of cars for short distances, motivating citizens to use smart mobility systems and decongesting the road network.

• 42 electric bikes distributed in rental stations

• 3 electric bicycles for the disabled

• Rental station charging system

• Bicycle rental terminals with integrated charging system and touch screen.

• Issuance of smart cards for renting bicycles

In addition to the equipment, AMCO will also supply the corresponding Bike Rental Software.

Citizens will be able to rent a bicycle through the infokiosks that will be installed at each station, either through the web application, or through the smart card that will be issued by the system. The new shared electric bicycle rental system from AMCO, comes to strengthen the “smart” infrastructure of the Municipality of Korydallos, making the citizens’ movements faster, safer and more sustainable.
